Programs & Services
Crossroads II is a HUD, LHFA, and City of Shreveport funded supportive housing program. It provides permanent housing for 16 individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness and have a severe mental health diagnosis.
REACH II is a permanent supportive housing program for chronically homeless and/or dually diagnosed adults. It has the capacity to serve 23 participants. Income is not a prerequisite for admission. Reach II staff assist participants in defining housing needs/preferences and develop individual service plans that reflect the needs. Supportive services focus on assisting participants with meeting their lease terms. Staff work with participants in overcoming barriers by advocating for public benefits, vocational and employment programs, mental health/substance abuse treatment, etc.
As Northwest Louisiana’s Family Resource Center, PORTALS serves the families and children referred by the Regional VIII Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) by addressing family preservation needs. Services include parenting education, family skill building, and visit coaching for families reported for child abuse and neglect to DCFS. If clients require services not offered by CSP, such as domestic violence counseling or psychotherapy, CSP coordinates with OCS and FINS to ensure that the client gains access to a comprehensive range of services.
CENTER FOR WOMEN
Permanent supportive, community-based housing for 9 women who are in recovery from substance abuse dependency and have experienced homelessness.
Community Support Programs, Inc. realizes the importance of providing a continuum of care to our mental health clients. An essential part of that continuum is transportation. Through a grant from the Northwest Louisiana Human Services District, CSP provides transportation for Non-Medicaid clients to behavioral health appointments in Region VII .
CSP HOUSING INITIATIVES
On behalf of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, CSP manages fifty-eight Housing Choice Vouchers for those with a severe mental health diagnosis (see HUD website here). These Section 8 vouchers allow individuals and families, all of whom would struggle to pay for housing on their own, to reside in safe, decent, affordable housing with rent support.
Cora M. Allen Townhomes
12 townhomes including eight two bedroom and four three bedroom units offering housing opportunities for households earning up to 80 percent or less of the area’s median income.
Community Housing Development Organization
Certified as a CHDO with the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency and the City of Shreveport to build apartments and homes. To date, CSP has helped develop over twenty-five apartment complexes and single family developments for low-income and disabled residents throughout Shreveport-Bossier and northwest Louisiana.
